Seated exercise


Inactivity increases the effects of the aging process which will lead to a reduction in speed, joint range of movement, physical strength, endurance and bone density (osteoporosis).


Reduced activity levels result in a decline of independence, which increases feelings of isolation, and a reduction in self-esteem that can result in depression and anxiety.


It is important to remember that there are very few people that are not able to undertake some form of physical activity.


Under our specialist arm of Sit ‘N’ B’ Fit we can provide therapeutic chair based exercise which can help to reduce the effects of the aging process improving mobility, flexibility and muscle strength.


Seated exercise programmes can be adapted to all ages and are very beneficial to individuals who have not exercised for a length of time or those who may have health issues that may prevent them from participating in mainstream exercise.


Many tools can be incorporated into seated exercise programmes such as therabands and light weights depending on the individual’s activity level.

From the seat to the feet

As part of our specialist Sit ‘N’ B’ Fit arm we pride ourselves in our focus on progression.


If participants are able we encourage them “from the seat to the feet”.


Our specialist instructors progress their exercise to standing programmes if appropriate to further improve balance, coordination and fitness levels.  This has a great effect on self-confidence and self-achievement.



Low impact aerobics


Here at B’ Active ‘N’ B’ Fit we can offer groups low impact aerobic sessions.


These sessions are ideal for beginners who are new to exercise and the older client and provide structured exercise routines that are fun with key physical objectives.



High impact aerobics


B’ Active ‘N’ B’ Fit can offer more advanced groups high level aerobic sessions, this type of exercise it more suited to those who have engaged in exercise for a length of time and prefer a more challenging workout.



Boxercise® combines boxing and exercise in great fun; it’s a stress busting activity to suit everyone.


Our experienced Boxercise® instructor will equip you with the skills necessary to participate in Boxercise® workouts to improve your strength, stamina & fitness levels.


The class is pitched to include those new to Boxercise® to those who may have previously participated.  The more experienced you become the more you can challenge yourself!


 Nordic Walking


Nordic Walking is an enhancement of ordinary walking – it makes something we can all do…. twice as effective!


Nordic Walking uses poles to in order to add two major benefits to walking

  • The use of poles means the upper body muscles are used as well as the legs
  • The poles help to propel the walker along – this means he/she works harder than usual yet the support given by the poles makes it feel easier!


Nordic Walking is a specific fitness technique and is not to be confused with trekking, hill walking or trail running as the poles are not planted in front of the walker/runner but in a specific way that increases the use of the upper body. It can be done by anybody, anywhere and does not require expensive equipment or clothing.

Zumba Gold®

Family Exercise


B’ Active ‘N’ B’ Fit are passionate about the family model of exercise.  We feel that a family that plays together bonds together.


Our accredited instructors can tailor preferred exercise programmes to fathers and sons/mothers and daughter to ensure full participation and bonding through exercise.


We can provide Lads ‘N’ Dads and Mam ‘N’ Princess classes to provide a structured exercise programme for both children and adults.


We can also provide sessions that all the family can join in!


This also ensures that positive messages about exercise are passed down and sometimes up from one generation to another.

B’ Active ‘N’ B’ Fit have qualified Reiki masters that can come to you in your local community and provide relaxing Reiki sessions to improve your mental health & well-being.


Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. Yoga Laughter


Laughter yoga is a revolutionary idea – simple and profound. An exercise routine, that is sweeping the world and is a complete wellbeing workout.


The brainchild of Dr .Madan Kataria, a physician from Mumbai, India, launched the first laughter club at a park on March 13, 1995, with merely a handful of people. Today, it has become a worldwide phenomenon with more than 6000 social laughter clubs in about 60 countries.


Laughter yoga combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing (pranayama).


B’ Active ‘N’ B’ Fit’s laughter yoga sessions are led by our laughter teacher, who controls the laughter session, explains and gives commands to start and complete different laughter exercises.


Our teacher guides our clients to start and complete laughter exercises together for improved group dynamic.

B’ Active ‘N’ B’ Fit offer laughter yoga to everyone including community groups, health professionals, children and workplaces as a team building exercise.


GP Referral Instructors


Here at B’ Active ‘N’ B’ Fit we have qualified GP Exercise Referral Instructors who carefully assess the health needs of our clients.


This ensures that a safe exercise programme is tailored to the individual.


This assessment takes into account the exercise requirements of health conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, stroke and Cardio Vascular Disease (CVD).


Health Champions


Story so far . . . . . Volunteers, community workers and frontline staff across Washington and Sunderland West have been invited to take part in an innovative new project called health champions.

The health champion initiative, part funded through Washington and

Sunderland West Area Committee’s and delivered in partnership with Sunderland City Council and NHS South of Tyne and Wear is a community led project to reduce health differences in local areas.

Here at B’ Active ‘N’ B’ Fit we currently have two members of our team who are qualified Health Champions and a member of our team undergoing the Health Champion Course.
