B' Active 'N' B Fit CIC, is celebrating after being awarded £19,760 in National Lottery funding to support its work with vulnerable older adults. B' Active 'N' B' Fit CIC, based in Barley Mow Park, Hendon, Sunderland, will use the money to run more health and wellness activities to improve well-being, social interactions, mental health, independent living skills and ability through exercise and movement, improve family and community connections, and build friendships whilst creating a sense of belonging. B' Active 'N' B' Fit CIC has been running since 2002 and was founded by Lynn Summerside. Their mission is: 'To help maintain and sustain independent living and reduce social isolation using an holistic approach.'
B' Active 'N' B' Fit CIC runs Day Opportunities, Personal Assistance Services, One to One Exercise Classes and Community Exercise Classes to Sheltered Accommodation, Care Homes and Barley Mow Park Social Retreat. Whilst taking part in our Day Opportunities our members enjoy activities: Sit 'n' 'b' fit, Park walk 'n' Talk, Memory Recall and Reminiscence, Exercise movement and Dance, Art's 'n' Crafts, Therapeutic Exercise, Gardening 'N' Growing, Holistic Therapies, Reiki, Emotional Freedom Techniques, Laughter Yoga, Tea 'N' Talk and Singing. Day Opportunities help our members to feel less isolated, improve mental well-being and help sustain independent living creating greater self-confidence and belief.
The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK, will allow B' Active 'N' B' Fit CIC to offer more support to vulnerable older people who are at risk of loneliness and ill health.
Lynn Summerside, Founder of B' Active 'N' B' Fit CIC, says: "We're delighted that The National Lottery Community Fund has recognised our work.
Now, thanks to National Lottery players we will be able to press on with our plans to provide more health and wellness activities to vulnerable older adults.
